The UPortals idea began June 18th 2007 in the form of Daily Devils.com. Daily Devils was launched by Sterling Cross and Dylan Burkhardt and was intended to be a homepage for Duke students to give them a better place to start their web browsing. The DailyDevils portal featured a variety of quick links, events, and search capabilities.

Starting in summer of 2008 the plans were in action to expand DailyDevils to other campuses across the U.S. The expansion will be in the form of UPortals.net. The first expansion will be to the University of Michigan and the plans are in action to launch the site at Michigan State, UNC, and Wake Forest for the start of the 2008-2009 school year.
